Sandringham police and Metro police stop jaywalkers on N3

SANDRINGHAM – Sandringham police and Metro police attempt to hinder jaywalking on the highway.

 

Sandringham police along with various other law enforcement services including Metro police held a joint operation on the N3 to apprehend jay walkers on the highway.

Spokesperson for Sandringham Police Station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said, “The joint operation also involved Gauteng Traffic, Ekhurhuleni Metro police and the National Traffic police, who demarcated the N3 from the Linksfield off-ramp up to the Modderfontein off-ramp, and from London Road off-ramp to Marlboro off-ramp.”

The operation saw law enforcement monitoring the highway for any jaywalkers.

“Any pedestrian found walking along the freeway would be arrested as he or she would be violating the Road Traffic Act.”

He appealed to the community to not walk along or across the highway, adding that since the beginning of August, Sandringham police apprehended 78 pedestrians for this offence which includes a fine of R300.
