Women raped by known suspects

ALEXANDRA – Boyfriend and brother's friend rape two women.

Two women were allegedly raped in the week ending 16 July in Alex by people known to them.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the first victim was sleeping with her child in their 5th Avenue home when she was allegedly raped by a boyfriend.

She claimed the suspect, who was under the influence of drugs, arrived at her home at 2am and allegedly demanded to have sex with her. She claimed to have resisted and asked him to sleep on the floor but he allegedly strangled her before raping her.

The second rape incident occurred at 6pm on 15 July at the 19th Avenue home of a woman, allegedly by a friend of her brother.

The victim claimed to have been drinking beer with three of her brother’s friends at one of the friends’ home. Later, the owner of the house and one friend left her locked in the house and still drinking with the suspect.

When they returned later, the suspect was asked to accompany her to her place as it was dark and unsafe, which he did but allegedly took her to his place.

When she later asked to leave, he refused and told her that he wanted to have sex with her. She refused and he allegedly pushed her onto a bed and raped her. The friends arrived at his place and she managed to leave when he opened the door for them.
