The overwhelming support from South African football fans, for the past six years, shows that this is an extraordinary derby that distinguishes itself from others as it gives them the privilege to be the Champion Coach by influencing the starting line-up.

This year, the fan experience was further enhanced by allowing fans to also select their preferred formation.

Carling Black Label brand director, Samori Gambrah expressed his delight at the response and fact that the game was now sold out, saying this was another milestone for the cup match.

“It speaks volumes about the initiative, and demonstrates that the fans are hungry for football action during the recess and the Champion Cup comes at the right time whereby fans are anxious to see their new signings in action,” he said.

The fans also get to witness their team’s pre-season preparations and that gives them a glimpse of the season to come, he added.

The cup match offers a unique opportunity whereby two lucky fans stand a chance to experience their team in training, sit in the pre-match briefing and be part of the dugout with their favourite team as Champion Coaches.
