Cinderella Kids is a must-see

JOBURG – Prince Charming talks to City Buzz about the new production of Cinderella Kids at People's Theatre.

People’s Theatre has seen numerous plays on its stage and now it’s time for Cinderella Kids to impress audiences.

Thokozane Jiyane is whisking theatre lovers – young and old – to a different place and time to see the beloved story of Cinderella unfold through the depiction of the role of Prince Charming.

He is a versatile performing artist who received his training at the Tshwane University of Technology in musical theatre where he featured in Legally Blonde and 9 to 5 The Musical. He was most recently featured in Mr Popper’s Penguins as Admiral Drake, Delivery Man and Doc Hopper and he’s currently in a number of TV shows and advertisements.

Jiyane, who recently finished a run of Winnie the Pooh at the People’s Theatre, plays the male lead in the story, hoping to find the love of his life who he had danced with at a grand ball – and who’s shoe is the only clue he has to go on.

While we all know the story of Cinderella, he urges all audiences to attend the run of the famous children’s classic because this cast and crew are some he is particularly proud to work with.

“It’s fun to watch a show which brings the story to life with funny, hard-working and talented cast members. My fellow cast members are more like my family now. We encourage one another, motivate and more importantly, we create a beautiful and happy atmosphere. I am enjoying every moment with them.

“What I want the public to know is that the production is well directed with great costumes, sound and lighting. It will definitely take you to the era and world of Cinderella.”

While Jiyane is still on the lookout for his next big thing, he is confident that he will be back on the entertainment scene soon – maybe at the People’s Theatre again?

“What I have for the future is passion, hard work and determination which will breed excellence.

“The Peoples Theatre is a home for artists.”

Don’t miss the show, on now until 30 July.
