JOBURG – Are you a small to medium business entrepreneur wishing to grow your enterprise? Then this is your opportunity!

The Eskom Development Foundation is calling on small businesses throughout the country which have been operating for more than two years to submit their entries for the annual Business Investment Competition.

The overall winner across all the four sectors – comprising manufacturing, engineering or construction, trade or services, agricultural and agro-processing enterprises across all provinces – stands to take home R150 000 while each sector’s winner pockets R100 000.

There are also prizes for those who finish in second and third place and all the finalists will receive cash prizes. Besides these financial rewards, finalists also receive training in various business skills through workshops, training and networking sessions which form part of the valuable package for entrants to the competition.

The foundation’s communications manager, Chris Borman, said the competition, which has helped small businesses to grow their operations since its inception in 2008, was calling on registered black-owned small and medium enterprises to enter the competition.

Speaking at the launch, he said all the finalists receive an opportunity to exhibit at the annual three-day Small Business Expo and the #BuyaBusiness Expo to be held from 31 August to 2 September at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg.

Borman said the Small Business Expo was exclusively dedicated to the development and growth of the small and medium-sized enterprises by giving them an opportunity to market themselves and interact with about 7 000 corporates, potential investors and customers.

“The competition encourages and rewards entrepreneurship by providing a platform for small and medium enterprises to cross the next major hurdle in their business development,” Borman said.
