Region E Career Expo at East Bank Hall held for youth in a bid to find employment

ALEXANDRA – The City of Johannesburg will host its annual Region E Careers Expo at East Bank Hall.

The City of Johannesburg is calling on the youth in and out of school to visit the second annual Region E Career Expo at the East Bank Hall in Alexandra from 8 to 11 May.

The expo is organised in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Education’s Johannesburg East District and will seek to empower the youth of Alex and surrounding areas through exposure and career guidance in a bid to also reduce the high level of unemployment and contribute towards the upliftment of the youth.

Among the information to be shared with the youth will be issues of how to obtain bursaries, learnerships, scholarships and internship opportunities for those who have already acquired tertiary education but who have hit a stumbling block in search of work.

The targeted groups of youths are those in high schools between grades 9 and 12 and other school-leavers, unemployed youth and those who have completed tertiary education and cannot find work.

Companies and institutions such as Khuphulanani Training Institute, Culinary School, Transnet, Damelin, University of Johannesburg, Media Mark, Urban Brew Studios, South African National Defence Force, the South African Police Service, Brand Laiki and Nedbank.

Others include ENSAfrica, Alex FM, Forex Nation SA, Imbalie Beauty School, National Youth Development Agency, National School of Arts, Luju Inc., Services Seta, Agriculture Department and Alexandra Chess Club.

The Central Johannesburg College, City of Johannesburg departments and entities, the School of Tourism, National Libraries, South African National Blood Services and the National Road Accident Fund.
