Victim of an attempted armed business robbery joined forces with Alex police in chasing and apprehending a suspect

ALEXANDRA – Victim of failed armed robbery helps police apprehend suspect.

 

A suspect who was apprehended by his victim and Alex police officers after an attempted armed business robbery was remanded in custody by the Alex Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.

Upon his arrest, the suspect was in possession of a gun weapon loaded with six bullets. He had two accomplices who are still at large.

The incident occurred at about 9am on 17 December last year in Tsutsumani when the victim, who was offloading goods from a Toyota Avanza into his shop, was pounced on by the suspects. Two of them pointed guns at him. He ran away and met police officers nearby and informed them of the incident. As the police approached the scene, the suspects ran off but they arrested one of them with the victim’s help.
