Schoolboy allegedly rapes and steals tablet from peer

ALEXANDRA – A schoolboy is accused of stealing a tablet and raping his peer.

A schoolgirl was allegedly raped and robbed of her school tablet by a boy who attends the same school.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said they were investigating the incident which occurred on 8 February at about 2.30pm in 7th Avenue.

The victim was in tears when she got home and was later accompanied by a parent to the school where she informed the principal of the incident.

The victim was walking home with a female school friend when the suspect is said to have robbed her of the tablet and then forced her to a friend’s place where he allegedly raped her. Her friend wasn’t raped or robbed. The stolen tablet is worth R6 000.

A suspect was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for further investigation in the alleged theft of a bakkie which was recovered minutes after the incident.

The incident happened mid day in June last year.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the suspect with an accomplice who is at large allegedly stole the vehicle which was left idling on the side of Vincent Tshabalala Road by a mechanic who was fixing his company’s broken down truck. The two jumped into it and drove away but were stopped by the Police who saw them driving suspiciously in the township. The accused who was driving was arrested while the accomplice escaped.

The company was traced and informed of the incident and recovery and, the mechanic collected the vehicle at the police station.
