Police nab 60 suspects, and attend to 46 offences in a week

Alex police officers attended to 46 reported criminal offences and arrested 60 suspects for various crimes in the week ending 2 February, said the spokesperson for the police station, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang.

The reported offences were:

  • 1 for murder
  • 1 for attempted murder
  • 4 for rape
  • 5 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 10 for common assault
  • 4 for theft from a motor vehicle
  • 4 for residential burglary
  • 1 for business burglary
  • 2 for business robbery
  • 2 for common robbery
  • 2 for robbery with a firearm
  • 3 for robbery with other forms of weapons
  • 2 for general theft
  • 5 for malicious damage to property.

The arrests were as follows:

  • 2 for rape
  • 1 for sexual assault
  • 11 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 4 for common assault
  • 1 for common robbery
  • 2 for business robbery
  • 7 for theft
  • 1 for theft from a motor vehicle
  • 1 for possession of stolen property
  • 4 for malicious damage to property
  • 8 for possession of illegal drugs
  • 18 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
