PSL congratulates Sundowns, Mosimane, Oyango

JOBURG – Mamelodi Sundowns make South Africans proud by winning various top awards at the Caf awards ceremony in Nigeria.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has congratulated reigning Absa Premiership champions and African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns for being voted Confederation African Football (Caf) African Club of the Year.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane and goalkeeper, Ugandan, Denis Onyango, both walked away with individual awards at the awards ceremony in Nigeria over the weekend.

Mosimane was voted as the Caf African Coach of the Year 2016 after he guided Mamelodi Sundowns to their first Caf Champions League triumph and also an impressive spell in the Absa Premiership.

Mosimane made history by becoming the first South African to win this award. Onyango was voted as the Caf African Player of the Year based in Africa and edged out teammates Khama Billiat and Rainford Kalaba.

The Brazilians, who were voted as the Caf African Club of the Year, beat the likes of TP Mazembe FC of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambian side, Zesco United to win the top award.

PSL players also featured on the Caf Africa Finest X1 released by the continental football body. The list comprises players based in Africa and abroad.

Sundowns and Bafana Bafana speedy winger Keagan Dolly, Billiat and Onyango were on the list.
