Loui Lvndn signs a record deal

JOBURG – Gallo Record Company signs Loui Lvndn and releases his new EP.

East London born Loui Lvndn (pronounced ‘London’), champions a fearless future for African music.

The musician, whose real name is Lutho Mtyamde, is excited to make a name for himself on the local music scene and will not stop until he’s achieved his goal.

Driven by his unrelenting passion for creation and his progressive sound, this project reveals Loui Lvndn’s redefinition of what is possible within South Africa’s musical landscape.

Now living in the entertainment capital of the country, Johannesburg, the musician has signed with the esteemed record label, Gallo Records and has released his new album, Hikari to eager listeners.

Hikari, the Japanese word for light, is a kaleidoscope of bespoke musical brilliance that features the likes of South African raised, European breakout artists Petite Noir and Spoek Mathambo.

On other creative fronts Loui Lvndn has a degree in creative brand communications and graduated cum laude from the AAA School in Johannesburg. He has been nominated for four Loerie awards in the Creative Writing and Publication Design categories and has won the Brand Council SA trophy for top design student 2015, the Newcast Trophy for top creative student and the AON Excellence Award for top overall creative student in SA.

Most recently, he won a Pendoring Award for Craft Illustration for a book he designed while in college called 30 Years Of South Africa Illustrated – a written and graphic look at 30 key events that happened in our country since 1985. The book has also been nominated for two Loerie awards.

Hikari pushes the boundaries to exude a new creative energy of an African aesthetic fusing an unapologetic bend and blend of worldly genres. His current single on high rotation is titled Drugs and features the legendary Mathambo.
