Alex schools shine in rugby season

ALEXANDRA – Gordon Primary School and Pholosho Junior Secondary School shine in rugby season.

It has been a wonderful year of rugby development in Alexandra.

The president of Alexandra Wolves Rugby Club, Ellias Mpengu, has built a strong relationship with most of the schools in Alex to promote the sport of rugby.

This year, two rugby leagues were established for primary and high schools. The primary schools which participated in the league were Gordon, Zenzeleni, Ikage, Emfundisweni, Ithute, Dr Knak, Marlboro, Iphutheng, and Carter primary schools.

The junior league consists of U9, U11 and U13 teams. Gordon’s U13s and U9s won the league and Marlboro’s U13s were the victors.

The senior teams were formed from Pholosho Junior Secondary School, East Bank High School, Wendywood High School, KwaBhekilanga High School, Sandringham High School, Minerva Secondary School and Marlboro High School.

There were two streams in the senior division, U17 and U15. Pholosho won the U15 league and East Bank High School won the U17.
