Law firm secures educational needs of soccer players

ALEXANDRA – Sandton law firm, Bowman Gilfillan secures the educational needs of Malandela Mighty Heroes football players.

The education of soccer players from one of Alexandra’s most successful clubs, Malandela Mighty Heroes, will no longer play second fiddle to the beautiful game.

This follows a recently struck deal between the club and Sandton-based law firm Bowman Gilfillan, the club’s new sponsors and mentors to the players.

According to club coach, Vincent Rammoni, Mighty Heroes will benefit from an undisclosed amount of sponsorship in an open-ended relationship which is subject to appraisal from time to time.

“The biggest beneficiaries of this deal will be our players on the field. They will be the people to benefit more in the sense that their educational needs and requirements will no longer play second fiddle to the beautiful game.

“The law firm has agreed to mentor 19 of our boys in the U15 and U17 teams, with the exception of those poised to join new academies, to ensure they play soccer, but at the same time don’t lag behind in their schoolwork,” said Rammoni.

Bowman Gilfillan attorney and sports representative, Evander Obi, said the law firm would mentor the boys to improve the quality of their schoolwork.

“When they finish matric, players wanting to pursue further tertiary studies will be financially catered for by the law firm,” said Obi.

To celebrate and cement the relationship, attorneys from the law firm formed their own soccer team which played a friendly match against the Mighty Heroes side, along with other invitees from Alex Royal Tigers and United Stars.
