Music fest before the MTN8 final

JOBURG – It's entertainment galore at the MTN8 final at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on 1 October.

The Premier Soccer League and sponsors MTN have gone out of their way to woo spectators at the MTN8 final between Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns on 1 October.

Although the 90 minutes of football on Saturday afternoon will be the main event, there are ample other reasons for members of the public to make their way to the Mbombela Stadium on the day.

The pre-match activities will attract some of the biggest names in the music industry including a ‘surprise’ performance by one of the country’s biggest-selling musicians.

A pre-concert mini-festival will get members of the public in the groove while waiting for the 5pm kick-off. Some of the artists that will be performing include Trompies, Boom Shaka, Thebe, Mi Casa, Cici, Dr Malinga, DJ Clock, Reason, Ismael, Nasty C and many others. The concert will start at 3pm and the gates open at 2pm.

“The MTN8 knockout tournament is synonymous with fanfare, excitement and high levels of fan participation. This year, the level of participation expected from our fans and the rewards that will accompany this competition at this epic final will be no different,” said Larry Annetts, chief consumer officer for MTN SA.

“MTN has organised a scintillating concert that will keep the fans entertained and set the scene for the Wafa-Wafa showdown later in the afternoon. We urge the football loving public to get their tickets early and come in numbers to enjoy the festivities that are synonyms with the MTN8 tournament and feast on the football spectacle that will be on offer later in the day.”

Tickets for this much-anticipated encounter are now on sale at TicketPro and TicketPro online or visit Edgars, Edgars Active, Edgars Connect, Jet, Jet Mart & CAN.
