Man shot as he opens front door.

ALEXANDRA–- Police investigate unprovoked shooting of man at his home.

Alexandra police are investigating the shooting of a man at his home on 3rd Avenue at 10pm on 5 September this year.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the victim’s neighbour, who lives on the same premises, was watching television when he heard gunshots outside his house. He turned down the volume and heard the victim screaming and calling his name.

When he opened the door, the victim stumbled in and fell on the floor. The man called another neighbour for help and the two noticed that a bullet had gone through the victim’s upper body.

Before they took the victim to the Alexandra Clinic for treatment, he told them that he was shot by a short man who ran away before he could identify him because of darkness as he had opened the door before switching on the lights.

No arrest has been made yet.
