Three men await business robbery trial
ALEXANDRA – Robbers of traders remanded in custody.
Three Alex men were remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the alleged armed business robbery of traders at their shop in Ext 10.
The incident occurred at about 7pm on 22 June this year.
The accused allegedly pounced when one victim entered the shop after his brother opened a burglar door from inside to let him in. One of the accused allegedly pointed a gun at both victims and ordered them to lie down. He demanded money, cellphones and airtime.
The gunman’s accomplices searched the victims and took R4 500 in cash, two cellphones, airtime vouchers and cigarettes, all to the value of R11 920.
One of the accused was arrested three days later and he disclosed where his accomplices were and they were also arrested.
