Road rage leads to stabbing

ALEXANDRA - Taxi drivers' squabble ends in stabbing.

A taxi driver is under investigation by Alex police for the alleged attempted murder of another taxi driver during an altercation at a road intersection.

The victim from Alexandra was allegedly stabbed twice in his right hand and four times in the back by the suspect.

According to the spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang, the incident happened at 4pm on 22 July on the corner of Mali and Burundi streets in Tsutsumani. The victim, who drove a Toyota Avanza Taxi, was said to have stopped at a four-way stop to give way to another motorist who was driving a Mazda and was turning right.

After the motorist had turned right, the victim then proceeded straight but was cut off by the suspect who was driving a Toyota Quantum taxi, who was waiting behind the Mazda.

This resulted in the two taxi drivers exchanging insults after accusing each other of bad driving. They exited their vehicles and exchanged blows. The suspect then allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim.

Afterwards, the suspect got into his car and drove off while the complainant was taken to Alex Clinic for treatment.

The suspect has not been arrested as yet.
