Reckless driving lands taxi driver in jail

PARKVIEW – Police arrest taxi driver without a driver's licence in an unlicensed vehicle.

A taxi driver was arrested by constables Koena Maila and Podile Malema of Parkview Police Station on the corner of John Adamson and Beyers Naude drives.

“The two officers were patrolling the area when they spotted the taxi driver skipping a traffic light on Beyers Naude Drive. They then followed the driver until he came to a stop,” explained Colonel Sandile Mkhize of the station.

Mkhize added that the taxi driver did not have a driver’s licence in his possession, no licence disc on the vehicle and it was not roadworthy.

The driver has since appeared in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court and faced charges of reckless driving and driving without a licence.

His case was postponed for a bail hearing and he will remain in police custody until then.
