Live music line-up announced for SA Bike Festival

JOBURG - Read who is performing at this year's South Africa Bike Festival.

The South Africa Bike Festival, powered by Discovery Channel, has just released the live music line-up for its fun-filled weekend taking place at the newly-refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 27 to 29 May.

Headlining this year will be Kahn Morbee from the Parlotones on Friday night; Gangs of Ballet and rapper Sizwe Moeketsi, also known as Reason, on Saturday; and Cindy Alter from Clout and Majozi on Sunday.

On Friday, the music stage kicks off from 3.30pm with Will Rayz, a finalist on last year’s South Africa’s Got Talent, followed by Either Writer, a versatile Joburg solo musician setting the mood for an enjoyable afternoon filled with soul, blues and jazz.

Following this is The Motherland, a local band which performs with passion and eagerness and will offer euphoric vocals, staggering melodic gusts accompanied by heavenly guitar riffs. Last but not least, lead singer of The Parlotones and one of the judges in the latest musical talent show, The Voice, Kahn Morbee, closes Friday night.

Midday on Saturday, the energetic local trio, The Sextons, open the main stage followed by the country sound of Crystal Park, a band which expertly combines an American folk-country sound with a folk-rock edge. At 3pm, The Motherland sets the mood for Durban-based talent, Gangs of Ballet, who will perform their numerous hits currently dominating the airwaves on the country’s biggest radio stations. To wrap up a day filled with endless entertainment and biking-action, rapper Sizwe ‘Reason’ Moeketsi will bring his hip-hop flair to end off Saturday.

On the final day of the festival, Will Rayz returns to the stage and will kick-start the morning with his jazz performance. Soon after, the crowd will get to relive some country rock sounds with Cindy Alter.

A full schedule can be found on the festival website and tickets start from R600 for a family of four.

From blues and jazz, to country, 70s pop and hip-hop, the South Africa Bike Festival has something for everyone at this year’s event.
