Motlanthe donates to Polosho Primary School

ALEXANDRA - Former president Motlanthe donates R100 000 to Pholosho Primary School.

Pholosho Primary School in Alexandra was the proud recipient of financial support recently from one of its former pupils and former president, Kgalema Motlanthe.

Acknowledging the cheque donation of R100 000, the Motlanthe Foundation said the donation was “for use as decided by the school”. School principal, Dingaan Kubheka said it was a privilege to have Motlanthe as a former student.

“More so, an active member of the school’s alma mater. His interest in learning, children and the school encourages us to work harder in the interest of education and a better citizenry for the future,” Kubheka said.

He added that the school management and the school governing body would decide on the use of the donation. This he said would likely be towards the improvement of the pathetic in-classroom situation which includes a lack of desks and chairs, security against theft of learning equipment and the purchase of essential learning aids such as smart boards.

Kubheka said the donation should also encourage other former students to actively support the school with any essential resources the school’s management could identify and quantify.

“They should not forget where they come from, the school’s contribution to making them who they are from a background of struggling on bare feet to become achievers that current pupils want to emulate.”

Kubheka identified another national luminary, Archbishop Stanley Makhoba as another active alma mater for the school that others should also be inspired to emulate.

“He engages the school regularly to get appraisal of developments and other needs in the interest of the students.”
