Opening doors for young entrepreneurs

JOBURG - Financial services company, Investec, aims to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in young professionals by organising well-known businessman and entrepreneur, Maps Maponyane, to engage with them on a business level.

South African socialite and business-minded entrepreneur, Maponyane, has been announced as the ambassador of Investec’s Reserved4Me campaign.

The campaign aims to target and introduce young professionals to private banking with the company at the start of their careers and provide them with a network of like-minded individuals to brainstorm ideas to expand the entrepreneurial community of South Africa.

“It’s not about the hierarchy, role or status of the people we work with, but what the individual can offer the company and what we can offer them,” said Nicola Tager, joint head of Investec Careers.

Maponyane explained his mindset that propelled him to achieve so much in such a short time. “People are always saying that they’re so busy,” he said.

“For me it wasn’t about being busy, it’s more about being as productive as possible each day – there just aren’t enough hours in the day.”

He added that the campaign was important because it would show young professionals that it was possible to reach their goals and reach a certain level in life.

The company is also offering the public the opportunity to win R50 000 and styling by the campaign ambassador, businessman and fashionista, Maponyane, if they can spot the zebra in the advertisement for the Reserved4Me campaign.
