Man pleads guilty to house robbery

ALEXANDRA - Mozambican Denzel Gonclaves (38) said to be a habitual criminal pleaded guilty at the Alexandra Magistrates court to house robbery and theft he committed in 2014 in Rivonia.

Danzel Gonclaves (38), said to be a habitual criminal, recently pleaded guilty in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to a housebreaking and theft he committed in 2014 in Rivonia.

Judgement was reserved for a later date after further investigation is concluded.

The court heard that the accused, who was living in Joburg at the time of the crime, admitted to breaking into a house and stealing computers, a laptop, a hard drive and house keys.

Gonclaves was identified through fingerprints taken from the crime scene. He was found at Johannesburg Central Prison where he was already detained awaiting judgement for another robbery committed in Jeppe the same year.

The accused’s other crimes included a housebreaking in 2000 in Cape Town where he was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for five years; a house robbery committed in 2008 in Pretoria where he received a five-year wholly suspended sentence; and another house robbery case in Pretoria in 2011 where he was sentenced to five years in prison, but was released in 2013 at the discretion of prison officials.
