Searching for Joburg’s young talent

JOBURG - The Born to Perform Gala Concert is looking for new talent for their next show.

Since the successful Born to Perform Gala Concert was held on 1 July at the Lyric Theatre for which they received rave reviews from the audience, the talented young performers of the show have had a jam-packed five months with a number of fabulous industry highlights.

Born To Perform is a platform that was initiated by Gemma Marinus Donnelly and Matthew Marinus to create professional opportunities in the performing arts industry for young, talented children and teens.

Originally from the UK, Donnelly has been a major player in the musical theatre industry in South Africa for more than eight years, and opened an elite performing arts school called Stageworx School Of Performing Arts in 2009.

Johannesburg is filled with talent from a number of media schools in the city including City Varsity, South West Media College and Boston City Campus and Business College; and the second annual concert is looking for their students’ stage production skills.

Plans are already well underway to stage the second annual concert, scheduled to take place in December next year at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City. Auditions for the show start from the end of January until February next year to give budding talent an opportunity to be part of this great event. The team is looking for all young talented singers, dancers and specialty acts.

Dance schools are also encouraged to get in touch should they be interested in being featured in the show.

Those who are chosen for the concert next year will also be scheduled for performances at corporate events, shows at Montecasino and meet-and-greets with a number of local industry legends, just as the team did this year.

This is a casting call aspiring actors, producers, singers and dancers should not miss out on.
