An Alex man has been remanded in police custody pending a court appearance for allegedly assaulting his wife.
Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela, said the man who resides in 18th Avenue assaulted his wife at their home at about midnight on 4 July.
This after he allegedly came home drunk and didn’t find the meal he expected. By then his wife was sleeping.
Ramotshela said the wife claimed the man complained that she had cooked runaways, or chicken feet, instead of the meat he had purchased before he went drinking.
He then allegedly assaulted his wife. She managed to run out of the house and report the incident to the police, who arrested him. She also told police that her husband had assaulted her in the past.
