Ratang Bana founder off to America

JOBURG - Making a difference and creating opportunities for an under privilege community, through agriculture.

Ingrid Maredi, founder of Ratang Bana Future for Children, has headed off to the United States of America where she is going to share ideas on agriculture development with global leaders and experts.

The Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems (CIAS) and the International Agriculture Colloquium at the University of Wisconsin, will host Community Solutions: The Agroeocology of Development in Africa, where Maredi will be giving a presentation on 7 May.

The University of Wisconsin will pay for all costs, which include accommodation and plane tickets. This trip will benefit the programme immensely, as Maredi is also going to receive expert advice on community-based agriculture, development and environmental sustainability.
Tebogo Maluleke who works as a volunteer teaching children drama in the form of plays and poems at Ratang Bana said, “I am happy because, Mam Ingrid worked hard for this and she is not doing it for herself but for the community. I wish her all the best.”

Ratang Bana Future for Children was formed in 2009 and is a non-governmental organisation which caters for orphans, vulnerable children and grannies. It also creates job opportunities through agriculture.

Maredi was delighted about the opportunity and said she hoped to bring back ideas that she can implement when she returns.
She and her husband jetted off for the USA on 1 May.
