Pupils get new school shoes

ALEXANDRA - South African Breweries (SAB) partnered with the South African Liquor Traders Association. (Salta) Alexandra branch to donate school shoes to 200 vulnerable and needy school pupils

South African Breweries (Sab) partnered with the South African Liquor Traders Association (Salta) Alexandra branch to donate school shoes to 200 vulnerable and needy children.

The donation was made to pupils from four primary schools in the township –Iphutheng, Ikage, Zenzeleni and Bovet – with each school receiving 50 pairs of shoes. Sab said it was proud to see liquor traders playing an active role in the upliftment of their communities.

The event was attended by representatives from the Gauteng Liquor Board led by Cleo Lushaba, members of Salta, as well as Khosi Ndlovu, a chief educator specialist from the Department of Basic Education.

Ndlovu commended the brewery for its involvement and for garnering the liquor traders’ support. The said this ‘noble exercise’ would encourage pupils to focus on their studies instead of worrying about not having school shoes.

Ndlovu also shared that at some point in her schooling life, she never had shoes and some fellow pupils used to mock and make fun of her. She encourages the pupils to look past that and focus on their dreams, which is what matters the most.
