Ikage Grade 7s made career-ready for high school

Ikage Primary School principal Msweli is a worried man as his boys are prone to bunking classes and are often in his office for the wrong reasons.

Ikage Primary School was a hive of activity on September 15, when the school hosted a Careers Day for its Grade 7s ahead of their departure for high school next year.

Various motivational speakers, career fundis and local entertainment industry artists descended on the school with their wise words and guidance for the learners that will soon close their primary school chapter to open a new one in high school.

School principal Nkosinathi Msweli told his learners how privileged he was to be addressing aspiring future architects, doctors, lawyers, engineers, economists, teachers, musicians, scientists, veterinarians, and zoologists, and quoted a Chinese philosopher who said ‘a dream without knowledge was like a boat on dry land’.

“You need to dream big but at the same time equip yourselves with the necessary knowledge that can facilitate the achievement of those dreams and above all be disciplined. No more bunking of classes as you often do. I often see some of you loitering outside when in actual fact you are supposed to be in class,” the principal said.

Msweli said the boys had a worryingly high rate of bunking classes and were often in my office for the wrong reasons.
