4th Avenue Clinic and friends spruce up hospice in Alex
Staffers from the 4th Avenue Clinic, Boxer Store in the Pan Africa Mall and the Chester Butchery at Alex Plaza Mall spruced up the premises of the hospice with a paint facelift and cut the cake and shared it with all and sundry at the NPO Alex Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre.
Staff members of the 4th Avenue Clinic in Alexandra found time from their busy schedule of attending to patients and delivered goodies to the patients of the Alex Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre in 2nd Avenue.
The centre used to be the premises of Gordon Primary School many years ago.
This was part of the clinic’s 67 minutes of community service for Mandela Day in which they donated various grocery items, along with other companies such as Chester Butchery and Boxer Store.
Boxer also brought along a birthday cake in honour of the former statesman Nelson Mandela which was shared by the staff and patients of the hospice.
Outlining the purpose of the day, professional nurse Johannes Moratlatli said they had come to the hospice in honour of the former statesman and to do their fair share of community service as inspired by the late former president.
“We feel greatly privileged and honoured to be granted permission to be part of the historic moment happening at the hospice today in Mandela Month. As the 4th Avenue Clinic, we saw it fit to lend a hand to the needy and spend our day with them in commemorating our icon Nelson Mandela,” Moratlatli said.
He added that the clinic and its friends donated the necessities as per the hospice manager’s wish list. “We hope this will go a long way in ensuring that the hospice remains capable of rendering the required services to its inpatients.”
The day also saw staffers of the companies and clinic sprucing up the premises of the hospice with a paint facelift.
