UJW warms new moms in Hillbrow and gives Alex children beanies

The Union of Jewish Women had its fair share of Mandela Day activities in Alexandra and Hillbrow.

Children of the Sikelela Day Care Centre and those of the Union of Jewish Women-run (UJW) Alex Aftercare Centre at the Lutheran Church on 3rd Avenue were among the beneficiaries of beanies, books, kiddies tables and chairs.

This was during the UJW Mandela Day initiative which saw the organisation pack and deliver 120 bags for new beginnings to new mothers at the Hillbrow Community Health Centre. Learners from Glenoaks School made and handed out sandwiches, fruits, toys and sweets to day patients and their children at the UJW’s soup kitchen at the Alexandra Feeding Scheme and at the Hillbrfow Community Health Centre.

The UJW also delivered brand new books, kiddies tables and chairs to Sikelela Day Care Centre in Alex which were donated by Rand Plastics. It also handed out much-needed blankets and beanies to recipients at its Alexandra Feeding Scheme and children of its Aftercare Centre at the Lutheran Church premises on 3rd Avenue, Alexandra.
