“It’s a cultural exchange between 10 delegates from South Africa and those from the USA. We will be discussing issues that young people around the world face and through our cultural differences, exchange thoughts,” said Lebepe who is a final year software developer student.

The delegates were chosen based on their exceptional leadership qualities, passion for cultural exchange, and dedication to making a positive impact in their community.

“I was chairperson of the Congress of South African Students during my matric years and I have pioneered many initiatives that have the best interest of the youth of Alex. During my spare time, I’m also a peer coach for the children of all the Alex high schools.”

“I’m not trying to be ostentatious but I’m proud of where I am at the moment and I pray and hope there will be greater things to come and this should just be a milestone.”

Before he leaves on his journey, Lebepe was given an honorary award by Alex philanthropist Linda Twala for the great work he has done in the community.

“I felt honoured that at least there are those people who are watching and acknowledging my efforts of improving people’s lives. The award was to say he [Twala] appreciates what I’m doing for the young people of Alex and I should continue doing greatness and flying the SA flag high.”
