Alex Arsenal City FC awaits its verdict from DC

Alex Arsenal City FC finally had its day with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association's Disciplinary Committee on June 14 and the outcome is still yet to be delivered.

Alex Arsenal City FC, which has been in the dog box with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association following a fistfight during one of its matches, finally had its day with the Disciplinary Committee (DC) on June 14.

This followed a postponement of the scheduled appearance on June 7, whose issues were not divulged by the secretary general of the LFA Malvin Khumalo, who then confirmed that it finally heard the case on June 14 and the verdict was yet to be pronounced.

Arsenal’s day with the DC follows the commotion which erupted among two of its players during the LFA Promotional League game against Amajananda FC at the Totalsports Alex SafeHub on April 1 which led to the abandonment of the game as the referee feared for the safety of all those at the stadium.

Although Arsenal had already owned up to the chaos, Khumalo said the due process of disciplinary action still had to take its course so the LFA could get to know the facts of what transpired and could take appropriate action.

Khumalo earlier told Alex News the DC had a plateful of matters to deal with as the Arsenal matter was but one of many.

The Arsenal incident occurred soon after the referee blew his whistle for half-time and then the two players exchanged blows on the pitch. This prompted the referee to red-card both players.

One of them left the field, threatening that he was going to mobilise a mob which left the referee with no option but to abandon the game in fear for the safety of everyone at the match.

When the match was called off, Amajananda was leading 3–1. Amajananda has returned to the league after they were relegated from the Johannesburg Men’s Regional League in their maiden season last year.
