Alex learners urged to join Sasol Techno X 2022

Sasol is calling on learners in Alexandra to join the careers expo and get inspired by what it described as amazing careers of the future at Sasol Techno X 2022 expo to be virtually hosted from September 12 to 16.

Matriculates in Alexandra schools have been urged to attend the Sasol Techno X premier exhibition which will showcases the amazing possibilities of careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, and innovation (Steami) to the township’s next generation of leaders and innovators to be hosted from September 12 to 16.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of a groundbreaking annual event that attracts more than 20 000 attendees each year. Sasol Techno X opens up the awe-inspiring vistas of the exciting disciplines and career choices in science, mathematics and technology to the youth.

Techno X 2022 inspires and motivates learners, educators, and the public to develop an understanding of science and technology in all forms, promote the 4IR skills that are transforming our lives, and expose the youth to the compelling opportunities of the green economy. The exhibition aligns with the company’s mission to innovate for a better world.

During this interactive experience, visitors are immersed in tours, talks, displays and hands-on activities and workshops that demonstrate the future of science and the endless possibilities of technology. This year, Sasol Techno X is going virtual for the first time to reach a larger audience and bring Steami into homes, schools and offices across South Africa and the rest of the world.

“Nearly a third of young graduates in South Africa are unemployed. Sasol Techno X highlights how Steami education opens up unprecedented possibilities for the youth in jobs and roles we couldn’t even conceive of 20 years ago. As we inspire more youth to be scientists, engineers, technologists, and innovators, we unleash the economic potential and global competitiveness of our country,” said Noxolo Kahlana, head of the Sasol Foundation.

“Young people who choose a career in this dynamic field have the opportunity to prosper, explore, create, innovate and make a difference,” Kahlana added.

Sasol recognises that many schools do not have access to science, technical and computer laboratories. By utilising the latest interactive virtual technology, Sasol Techno X offers learners and educators a space to interact with and engage on critical Steami activities that are part of the school curriculum.

Online visitors to Techno X can look forward to exhibition stands powered by creative interactive tools such as:
