Lesedi learners say no to abuse of children
During Child Protection Week, Famsa teaches that children should be heard.
Family South Africa Johannesburg (Famsa) held a march on May 30 with children at Lesedi Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre in Alex to commemorate Child Protection Week.
Famsa is a non-profit organisation that works on building relationships and provides counselling for families
Gender-based violence coordinator and social worker at Famsa Kgomotso Motaung said they organised a march for the children from ECDs because they want to give them a voice since it is Child Protection Week.
“As an organisation, we are advocate social workers; we advocate for the young ones to assist them to have their voices heard, be able to say no to abuse,” Motaung said.
“We are marching with the children to say, enough is enough. We want to bring awareness to the community, to perpetrators, and to anyone who contributes to the abuse of children.”
