Dudula happy with police action on companies hiring foreigners

ALEX – Dudula chairperson Simon 'Msyza' Tsatsi also announced plans to launch Dudula in Cape Town and Durban, saying they were a registered NPO founded in 1995.

The Alexandra Dudula Movement has expressed its happiness following police raids on various companies that employ undocumented foreign nationals.

“This vindicates our position and the ‘fiyela’ operation that we have launched as part of a programme to ensure that laws of this country are observed by all and sundry.

“We have heard they raided a butchery as part of compliance monitoring and we delighted that they are finally applying the law and ensuring compliance,” Dudula chairperson Simon ‘Msyza’ Tsatsi told his members outside Alex Magistrate’s Court.

Members of Dudula had gathered outside the court to give support to six members of the movement who were arrested last Tuesday following running battles with law enforcement agencies and foreign nationals at the Pan trading square.

The six were remanded in custody until March 17 for bail application.

Tsatsi told members they were aware of a number of companies around the Pan that had started to voluntarily lay off undocumented foreign nationals working in their companies.

“We also want them to fire those that are documented but do not hold valid documents that allow them to work in this country. We want the laws of this country to be observed to the letter and that companies do away with cheap labour that makes Africans fight each other,” Tsatsi said.

He also announced plans to launch Dudula in Cape Town and Durban, saying they were a registered NPO founded in 1995.

“We are not criminals but a legitimate and registered organisation with a mandate from the community to carry out its work.”

Tsatsi also warned that the topless demonstration was just the tip of the iceberg and that more acts of undressing in public as a form of protest are yet to come.

“Do you want me to undress now and show them how serious we are,” he asked his followers who asked him not to, as he had already clutched on the short pants he was wearing.

He thanked Alex philanthropist Linda Twala for offering them food during their campaigns.

Tsatsi also said 68 community members in Alexandra had been offered trading space at Pan and that will continue to give those people protection day and night, which he said includes protecting their assets and wares as well.

“We are going to guard and patrol the square day and night to ensure that our members trade unhindered,” Tsatsi said.
