House robbery leaves woman shaken and without valuables

A woman was robbed at gunpoint in Alex while she was waiting for her child to open the door on February 19.

Speaking to Alexandra police detectives, the complainant said the incident happened at about 04:10   while she was waiting to enter her house and she noticed a man behind her.

“When she turned around to check, she saw two men and one of them had a firearm pointed at her. The two men then instructed the child to open the door. When the child opened the door, the men entered the house and demanded money. They proceeded to search all the rooms and came across the woman’s partner’s safe which had a firearm in it.

“They instructed the complainant to open the safe, they saw the black 9mm firearm with serial number 60795 which is valued at R3 000 and took it,” said Alexandra Police Station’s spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha.

Mbatha added that the suspects also took three cellphones and a black Lenovo laptop valued at

R4 000. The complainant said the suspects were wearing masks. A house robbery case was opened and an investigation was underway.
