Cab driver left at a cemetery following hijacking on London Road

ALEX – The car has a tracking device but has not yet been recovered.

Police detectives are investigating a case of a hijacking that took place on December 31 2021.

According to the Alexandra police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant who is a cab driver said he received a request from a client going to London Road and 22nd Avenue in Alexandra. When he arrived to get the client, two of four men pointed firearms at him and shoved him into the back seat.

“They took control of the vehicle and drove to Alexandra cemetery where they dropped him off and drove away with the vehicle. The car has a tracking device but has not yet been recovered,” said Mbatha.

No arrests have been made and no one was injured.
