Container library set to open its doors in Alex

ALEXANDRA – The library will be named after Rabbi Craig Kacev who is the donor and brains behind the King David Schools.

The We Love Alexandra Community Makeover Project is in the process of building a container library at number 53 2nd Avenue to cater for primary school children in the township.

The vice-president of the project Lawrence Ruele said the library was a product of a partnership between them, King David Schools in Johannesburg, and Feed SA. The library would be named Kacev Family Library after Rabbi Craig Kacev.

Kacev was the brains behind the founding of King David Schools and the man accredited with deftly steering the South African Board of Jewish Education to financial sustainability. He is also the sponsor of the library.

Ruele said the library would be fitted with chairs and tables and have an electricity supply, and should be ready to open its doors to children who want to use the library by the first week of December.

The initiative has seen a relationship with the community being formed in that the builders are all youth volunteers from Alex who have assured the makeover project that they would jealously guard the facility against vandals.
