#IMadeMyMark: Mashaba visits Alex, says he’s confident he’ll win mayorship

ALEXANDRA – ActionSA's Herman Mashaba is confident that his party will run Ward 105 in Alexandra.

Leader of the new boys on the block, ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba is exuding confidence, not just for his mayoral optimism for the City of Johannesburg, but for his ‘big fish’ councillor candidate to win Ward 105 in Alexandra.

Speaking to the Alex News on November 1, Mashaba said he had unfinished business as mayor of the City and will return to complete that business.

“I am very confident the people of Johannesburg will give me that mandate to come back and fix our broken City which I so love. I want to return and put that golden shine back to Johannesburg which is choking under the ANC since my departure,” Mashaba alleged.

He said he was ready for coalition politics again in the City but that excluded the ANC. “I am not going to go to bed with the ANC but I am open for any other party and its dependents for that matter.”

He told the Alex News outside the KwaBhekilanga High School voting station in Ward 105 on November 1, “I am ready to serve the people again if they choose my party. My work during my tenure as mayor speaks for itself.”

In this ward, ActionSA’s ‘big catch of the Jukskei River’ candidate, Shadrack Mkhonto, goes head-to-head with his ANC counterpart and incumbent councillor, Tefo Raphadu.

Action SA’s candidate, Shadrack Mkhonto said, “I have been nominated twice, in 2011 and in 2016. I know I am going to be third time lucky. I am going to take this ward, come hell or high water.

“Tomorrow this time we shall be talking a different story.”

He added jokingly, “I am going to organise an ambulance to be on standby for those who will have a heart attack come the announcement of the results.”

Mashaba will visit a few voting stations in Alex before departing for Soweto.
