#IMadeMyMark: Voting process goes smoothly in Alex’s Wards 75 and 76

ALEXANDRA – Wards 75 and 76 residents make their mark.

Alexandra residents are coming in their numbers to vote this morning, November 1, in the much-anticipated local municipal elections 2021.

At the Jesus Is The Answer Ministries voting station in Ward 75, there was a queue at first but it was quickly dealt with. Presiding officer Bongi MaKhathide said there weren’t any glitches at all at her station and that everything was going smoothly and according to plan.

“We opened on time and people are streaming in. At times they form a little queue but we quickly deal with it,” MaKhathide said.

Just across the street in Ward 76 at the Thusong Youth Centre voting station, deputy presiding officer Azwi Davhana said they opened a little late as the material was delayed but as soon as it arrived they were able to open just before 08:00.

“The only hiccup we are experiencing is people that have changed wards but never registered the change of address,” he said.

“One involved a resident that worked in Cape Town but upon his return to Alex, never changed address. It’s pity that he may not be able to vote this time around,” Davhana said.
