The Alex Men’s Forum presents solutions to stop looters

ALEXANDRA – Chairman of the forum says a community patrol is needed to look for the stolen items.

Alex Men’s Forum urged Alex men to stand up and vow to protect and defend the township from the looting that has been going on for the past few days.

Charles Mphephu, the forum’s chairperson said, “As a community, the locals need to stand together and unite in diversity and put their differences aside and take responsibility for ending this crisis by engaging in dialogues to address its root causes.”

In addition, he said SAPS and Metro police must work together with the community to restore peace.

“We ask that Alex men stand up and pledge their support to protect and to defend the infrastructure, the business sector, the public school system, the clinics, the community centres, and the libraries in our township.”

He said the community should step up and patrol to look for stolen items, as well as report looters to the police.
