The spokesperson for Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said police received a call from Alexandra Clinic concerning a deceased person who had allegedly died of an unnatural cause.

“The [police] members immediately began with a preliminary investigation which led them to Innesfree Park informal settlement in Athol, where the suspect was arrested,” said Mogodi.

“It was further alleged that the suspect, who is known to residents, was seen attacking the deceased.”

Mogodi added that the deceased succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the clinic. The suspect was expected to appear in court in due course.

Mogodi said that through day-to-day operations, Bramley police arrested other suspects for crimes including theft and trespassing.

Meanwhile, on 24 June, Mogodi said two men were arrested for tampering with essential infrastructure in Marlboro.

“It is alleged that the arrested suspects were part of a group of unknown men who were found digging out cable at the corner of Zinnia and Marlboro drives during the evening.”

Mogodi said when a security patrol vehicle arrived at the scene, the suspects ran in different directions while security members gave chase.

The security company managed to apprehend two suspects who were taken to Bramley Police Station where they were arrested and detained for further investigation.

Mogodi said the two suspects, aged 23 and 35, will appear in court after they have been profiled by police to ascertain whether they have been involved in committing any other crimes.
