Alex Men’s Forum donates duvets and bed covers to Ithuteng Daycare Centre

ALEXANDRA – Level 4 lockdown sets limitations on our humanitarian relief efforts to those we are supposed to provide service to, says forum leader.

Alex Men’s Forum made the last donation of 15 children’s duvets and covers to Ithuteng Daycare Centre in Tsutsumani as the country headed back to a tighter Level 4 lockdown.

The donation was made on June 29 in partnership with the Rotary Community Corps of Alexandra, and together they have been making weekly donations to various care facilities in the township.

Chairperson of the forum, Charles Mpephu told Alex News that they decided to halt all their activities until the easing of the lockdown restrictions.

The forum and their partners donated more than just duvets to the children’s centres as they showered the children with love and kindness to promote a positive view of fathers.

“It takes a village to raise a child,” Mpephu said. “If fathers act responsibly, our children will be in better hands and will grow up in an environment that is conducive for the sound development of children.

“In our forum, we focus primarily on gender-based violence, however, we realised that many kids who grow up feeling angry are likely to be violent and abusive.

“As a result, we went to the daycare centre to also show the kids how a man ought to treat his family and fellow human beings.”

He said the forum would resume its distribution of donations once the stricter lockdown was lifted by the government but urged donors to continue sending the much-needed items in the meantime.
