Suspects get away with uninsured vehicle after victim jumps out following a hijacking

Detectives are investigating a hijacking case that took place on the corner of Lenin Drive and Laduma Road in Alexandra.

Alexandra police spokesperson Simphiwe Mbatha said, “The complainant alleged that he was driving his yellow Peugeot, registration number DV 69 LV GP when he stopped at a red traffic robot when a blue Toyota Avanza with four unknown suspects blocked him in front and two men, one armed with a firearm and another with a knife, appeared.”

Mbatha said the victim said he jumped out of the car and the two suspects got inside and sped away.

The car was not insured and is valued at R30 000. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
