Man shot in his buttocks following a house robbery in Alex

ALEX – The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police detectives are investigating a house robbery that took place in Alexandra on 10 March.

The incident took place during the early hours of Wednesday around 2.34am in Extension 9. 

Alexandra Police Station Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said, “A 36-year-old woman said that she was sleeping in her room with her boyfriend when an unknown man entered their room and pointed a firearm at them. The suspect is said to have told the boyfriend, ‘I told you I will get you’, the boyfriend then apologised profusely to the suspect.” 

Mbatha said the suspect then took three cell phones belonging to the victims, a Huawei, Mobicell and Sony and then shot the boyfriend in his right buttock.

The suspect then took the man’s wallet and fled the scene.

“When the suspect left, the complainant checked how the suspect gained entry into the room. The complaint found that the suspect broke the burglar gate lock and the door lock. The suspect was wearing black clothes and had a black balaclava on.”

Mbatha added that the Huawei Y5 cell phone is worth R 1 500, the Sony

R 3 500 and the Mobicell R400 totalling R5 400. 

“The complaint is not sure of the amount that was in his wallet. One cartridge was found at the scene and was booked at Alex SAPS. The boyfriend was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.”

A house robbery docket has been opened for further investigation.
