Lindani Mchunu, the project manager of Ponelopele, has confirmed that a total of 140 beneficiaries were happy to receive blankets and clothes provided by Rays of Hope with the support of Legae la Alex, Lion of Juda, Alex FM, Amatshitshi Amahle, Royal Tigers and Scripture Union.

The #WarmupAlex initiative is a campaign started by Rays of Hope last year with support from 30 smaller non-profit organisations (NPOs) across Alexandra. “The aim of this idea was to try and reduce the burning of shacks and houses by providing warmer clothes and blankets to as many as we can,” said Mchunu.

Donald Raselalome, the leader of the #WarmUpAlex campaign from Rays of Hope, said he was pleased that the campaign is still doing well. “It’s always a good feeling for us to help the community in every possible way, even though it is quite difficult with the pandemic,” he said.

“We will continue working with various organisations so that we can help as many beneficiaries as we can in Alex,” concluded Raselalome.
