ALEXANDRA – Suspect drags, rapes, chases woman from his room during lockdown


A known suspect is wanted by the Alexandra Police Station for the alleged rape of a woman on the night of 28 March.

Due to the incident occurring during the national lockdown, police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha urged residents to comply with the regulations and remain indoors for their own safety.

“Don’t risk your lives to criminals looking round for victims,” Mbatha said. The suspect who was with three others, pounced on the victim as she walked past Nobuhle Hostel. They followed her and the suspect allegedly grabbed and dragged her into his room in the hostel where he assaulted her before raping her using a condom. Afterwards, he chased her from the room.
