14-year old suffers festive season rape

ALEXANDRA – Girl dragged into a home then raped.


The festive season in Alexandra was dampened by the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl and the murder of a motorist in two consecutive days.

Alex Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the reported rape occurred on 19 December. “The victim was allegedly dragged from the street late at night and raped at a home where she claimed there was a witness who was drunk,” Malatji said. The child apparently was released early the following morning and told her mother who helped her to report the incident which is under investigation.

Malatji said the following day a driver of a Toyota Avanza which was suspected to be used as a taxi was fatally shot three times in the upper body at about 8.30pm at the intersection of Alfred Nzo and 3rd avenues. “This occurred at a collision scene with a Daihatsu motor vehicle. Police are investigating the motive of the shooting and details of the other vehicle owner.”
