The police have opened a docket of attempted murder and robbery after a tuckshop owner was robbed at gunpoint on 16 October in Alexandra.
Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatjie said the 34-year-old tuckshop owner, who has just returned from a wholesaler, was busy offloading stock when four suspects, allegedly armed with firearms, forced him into the shop at around 9am. “They shot the shop owner in the stomach and robbed him undisclosed amount of money before leaving the scene.”
Malatjie said the victim was rushed to the nearest local clinic for medical attention and an investigation was underway. The four suspects are still at large.
