Sibuyela Emasisweni’s first annual beauty pageant to be held at Kings Cinema

ALEXANDRA – Ngubane said the beauty pageant is aimed at raising funds to buy computers for local schoolchildren.


Local arts and cultural activist Hlengiwe Ngubane, in partnership with the Alexandra Heritage Council, will host the first annual Sibuyela Emasisweni (back to the roots) beauty pageant at Kings Cinema on 18 September this year.

Ngubane said the competition aims to teach locals about their heritage and help raise funds to buy laptops for local schoolchildren.

“Our main objective through the Sibuyela Emasisweni Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage event is to raise fund to buy computers that will be donated in different local schools. We have 15 finalists who will be showcasing the beauty of our diverse cultures while competing for different prices. The participants are local models who are committed to community development and giving back to the community.”

Ngubane has urged local the community to come out in numbers to support the initiative and its cause.
