Alex FM to hold programming meeting with community members

ALEXANDRA– The meeting is sanctioned as part of ICASA policy for a station to have at least two programming meetings with the community.

The board of directors of the community broadcaster Alex FM have invited listeners and community members to attend a general meeting that will be held in Sankopano Community Hall on 6 July.

The station’s board chairperson Isaac Mangena said, “The meeting is sanctioned as part of Icasa (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) policy for a station to have at least two programming meetings with the community.

“We are inviting the community of Alexandra to come and be central to the work of Alex FM. We have resolved as the new board to take the station back to the community and allow them to be part of the processes we embark on.”

Mangena added that the board has been hard at work in the past few months on strategies and plans to turn around the station as mandated by the community.

“First in our list was to get the station’s licence renewed and I can confirm that the process is going very well and we are hopeful that we will get it renewed. The station management is doing amazing work in ensuring morale of the staff and they are very excited with the turnaround strategy.”

He appealed to community members to attend the meeting in order to make their voice heard and contribute to growing the station.
